Serum collection tube: The coagulation process is completed within a specified time. With the help of centrifuge, complete serum or platelet-deficient serum can be separated to ensure that the biological and chemical components of serum do not change or be contaminated during the prescribed storage period. Serum tube includes: red-headed tube (without additives, coagulants), yellow-headed tube (separating Gel + coagulants)
Plasma collection tube: For the provision of plasma specimens. Including green-headed tube (heparin sodium or heparin lithium), grey-headed tube (sodium fluoride + potassium oxalate / EDTA), blue- headed tube (sodium citrate 9NC).
Whole blood collection tube: In clinical blood examination, there is a kind of examination which takes flowing blood as a sample without separating blood plasma or blood cells. We call all these blood collection tubes for this kind of examination as whole blood collection tube. The purple-headed tube (EDTA2K) is the most representative one in clinical practice, followed by the black-headed tube for ESR test and the special dynamic ESR tube.
